When I look through this shoot, I immediately think of that David Rose gif of him saying “I’m obsessed with this”. This shoot was a joy creatively and personally because not only did the shots all work well, this family is simply the best. Is that too many Schitt’s Creek references? No such thing.
Hannah’s 1 year portraits are a great example of cohesive styling with a laid back approach to the shoot unfolding. Sometimes when you get too concerned with certain shots it can bog down the overall experience. A family can feel much more comfort in front of the camera when that pressure to perform is off. Gently guiding poses and movements are much more successful.
What usually works best for your family? Being told exactly what to do or do you thrive with more guidance and freedom? Each family is different, but I find a happier shoot is one that’s relaxed where everyone feels like themselves.
