I met this beautiful family last year for some fall portraits. We had a wonderful time shooting together and decided to do it all again this spring! One of the most lovely spots in Birmingham is of course, the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. The rose gardens are almost in full bloom and every single corner of the gardens is a treat. We ended up shooting a petite session and stuck mostly with the rose gardens in the evening. The children were dressed in simple, classic whites and blues which was a great choice for the season and also reads very classic southern. In other words…I loved it! It’s funny, I wouldn’t exactly describe myself as a old fashioned southern in terms personality, but boy do I love the southern style. Bring on all the smocks, jon-jon’s, and lace dresses!
As the temps trend upward this May, I’d encourage families to embrace late spring/early summer with some early morning or late evening portraits. Alabama is simply stunning in this time of year with every bloom bursting in yard afer yard. I have a few favorite locations that are particularly wonderful now. Let this beautiful family nudge you in the right direction and let’s make some memories in this beautiful weather!
